    Volleyball Men’s World Championship: Poland in the semi-final!

    What a match it was! It was full of emotions, nerves and dramatic moments but Poles defeated the USA 3:2 in the quarter-finals of the Volleyball Men’s World Championships in Gliwice. The White-Reds’ last rival on their way to the grand final of the World Championships will be the Brazilians.

    The Polish volleyball players won against the Americans in the group phase of the World Championships in Katowice in Spodek 3:1, but – despite this victory – no one expected an easy passage to the quarter-finals.

     

     

    In the first set, the Poles were definitely in the lead. Although the beginning belonged to the Americans, the Poles quickly caught the rhythm and did not allow the rivals to increase their lead. The Poles played very accurately until the very end. 

     

    The second set was quite similar to the first. The Polish team played fought for every point. Despite a difficult end, the white-and-reds did not let the Americans win. 

     

    The third set, unfortunately, belonged to the Americans. The Poles tried to gain more advantage, but it was the Americans who were more determined. Until the very end, they did not let the Poles take the initiative.

     

    The fourth set was a bit dramatic. The Poles had moments where they were definitely in the lead, but they also had moments where they lost their way on the court. The Americans took advantage of this and tied the set at 2:2.

     

    The fifth set determined the winner. From the very beginning, it was the Poles who tried to set the pace of the game and did not allow their rivals to build a bigger lead. An amazing ace by Semeniuk and a precisely played the last action allowed the Poles to win with the Americans 14:12 and thus advance to the semi-finals.

     

    In the semi-finals, the Polish team’s rival will be Brazil. They defeated Argentina 3:1 earlier on Thursday. The Italians and Slovenians will also fight for the Volleyball Men’s World Cup medals.
