The PKN Orlen and Grupa Lotos merger means increasing funds for sports sponsorship in Poland

Mergers are of great importance to the economy in Poland. Synchronization of tasks, which are often described as social, has an impact on supporting the country’s business. It is impossible to separate sponsorship and sports because the most important companies in Poland have a significant impact on the sports development of Poland. The PKN Orlen and Grupa Lotos merger means increasing funds for sports sponsorship.

The goal of the PKN Orlen and Grupa Lotos merger is to create a strong multi-utility group pursuing capital projects aimed to strengthen Poland’s energy security and its independence in terms of feedstock supplies. However, it also affects such areas as supporting the national sport representatives. Each combination of companies is also synchronization of their business-related activities, e.g. sports sponsorship.

“The merger of the fuel concern with other companies results in a synergy effect, which will also be noticeable in the area of sports sponsorship“, President of PKN Orlen Daniel Obajtek said during the Economic Forum held in Karpacz from 6 to 8 September 2022.

The President of PKN Orlen reminded that sports sponsorship is an important business element for the company he manages. He assured that the oil company would not reduce spending on sports, but even increase it to build its image more strongly.

“We will still be involved in sports. Sport is a very important element of business and social tasks for us,” Obajtek said.

PKN Orlen currently employs around 100 professional athletes with individual sponsorship agreements, and the sponsorship includes around 60,000 children and adolescents. According to the report showing the impact of the sports industry on GDP, PLN 47 billion in gross domestic product comes from activities related to the physical activity of Poles. 300,000 people work in this branch of the economy. This is an important area of the Polish economy.

“In sport as in business, for success to be successful, you must first invest, devote time, take care of everything. After joining the Orlen sports group, stabilization has begun, building a sports, personal brand – just like companies do in business,” five-time World Hammer Throw Champion Paweł Fajdek noted.
