2022 European Researchers’ Night in Poland

This year, European Researchers’ Night took place in 26 countries on Friday, September 30, 2022. It attracts each year more than 1 million visitors in Europe and beyond. The European Researchers’ Night aims to bring research and researchers closer to the public, promote excellent research projects across Europe and beyond, increase the interest of young people in science and research careers and showcase the impact of researchers’ work on people’s daily lives. The main events of the action in Poland are: ERN4Change in Lesser Poland Voivodeship and NIGHT4FUTURE-The Future of Earth is Possible Through Collaboration between Scientists from Different Fields in Poznań.

Every year on the last Friday of September, the European Researchers’ Night makes science accessible to all through activities which combine education with entertainment, such as exhibitions, hands-on experiments, science shows, games, competitions, quizzes and more.

As of the 2022-2023 editions, the European Researchers’ Night will also promote Researchers at Schools activities throughout the year. By bringing top researchers to schools, it will allow teachers and pupils to engage with them on important topics faced by our societies, such as climate change, sustainable development, health or nutrition.

Students associated in scientific circles, including the AGH Racing team – the creator of the only fully autonomous electric racing car in Poland, which triumphs at international competitions, also present their works at the Researchers’ Night event in Lesser Poland Voivodeship.

As a part of NIGHT4FUTURE in Poznań, the following academic bodies take part in the event: University of Technology, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU), University of Life Sciences (UPP), University of Economics, Academy of Physical Education, Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center, Institute of Molecular Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Human Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. A little later, on October 8, the Scientists’ Night of the Silesian University of Technology will take place. “In the rhythm of eco” – this is the slogan that will attract audiences in Gliwice, Zabrze, Katowice and Rybnik. The program includes, among others meetings: “Fantastic world of microorganisms”, “Become a pilot of an unmanned aerial vehicle”, “Space in our hands”, “Chemical explosion of colors”, “Astronaut test” and “Biblosphere for the little ones, or fairy tales in the byte zone”. Science enthusiasts will also learn how the processor works, what a hacker knows, how robots see our world, whether artificial intelligence can falsify images, how to control a drone and how to build a rover from Lego bricks.
