    Łódź University of Technology – the first university that signed an agreement with Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe related to the preparation of human resources for nuclear energy

    Łódź University of Technology is the first university that signed an agreement with Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe related to the preparation of human resources for nuclear energy. Specialists are to be educated in inter-faculty postgraduate studies and the best students will receive special internships. The authors of the study program, apart from classes covering technical aspects, envisaged, inter alia, a subject concerning an important problem, which is the socio-sociological determinants of the development of nuclear energy. The company Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe has experience in this field.

    “The nuclear industry is an industry that, in line with the announcements of the construction of the first power reactors, will significantly develop in Poland soon. The industry will need well-educated staff and a university is a place that offers opportunities for lifelong learning. Actions that will be initiated in cooperation with Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe are related to inter-faculty postgraduate studies in the field of nuclear energy. Their graduates will soon be very much needed”, Rector and Professor of Łódź University of Technology, Krzysztof Jóźwik emphasized.

    Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe is a company implementing tasks aimed at ensuring energy security of Poland. Responsibilities of the Company include:

    -Preparing the investment process and acting as the investor in the construction project of the first nuclear power plant in Poland. The Company will also be responsible for the construction of other nuclear reactors with a total capacity of between 6 and 9 GWe, based on proven, large-scale, generation III (+) pressurised water reactors, as well as their -potential operation;
    -Providing support for the government administration in the implementation of the Polish Nuclear Power Programme.
    -Building public support for the development of nuclear energy.

    Experts predict that in the coming years, in connection with the preparations for the process of starting the construction of a nuclear power plant in Poland, the demand for high-class specialists will grow. The agreement signed with the university also provides for the possibility of internships in the company by the best graduates of their studies.
