    WTA Finals: Iga defeated Kasatkina

World No.1 Iga Swiatek won against Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina (8) 6:2, 6:3 in her first group match at the WTA Finals tournament in Fort Worth, USA.

The meeting lasted one hour and 22 minutes. This was the fifth match between these players this year and the fifth victory for Swiatek.

She started in her style, that is, very aggressively. She won a game with her serve, then broke her rival, and a few minutes later she was already leading 3:0. Kasatkina didn’t play badly, in the first set, but the Pole was simply too strong for her.

In the second set, the situation looked similar and Swiatek without many problems defeated Kasatkina.

Competition at the first stage of the WTA Finals takes place in two groups named after great American tennis players – Tracy Austin and Nancy Richey. In them, the players compete in an “each against each” system. The two best from each group will advance to the semifinals, and then they will duel for participation in the final, scheduled for November 7.

In the same group as the Pole and the Russian are also Coco Gauff and Caroline Garcia. On Thursday, Swiatek will play against the winner of that match, the Frenchwoman. On Saturday, on the other hand, with the defeated and it will be the American. The struggle on the hard courts in Texas is fought for valuable ranking points, but also considerable financial bonuses.
