American Westinghouse and South Korean KHNP to help Poland build nuclear power plants [VIDEO]

The government has adopted a resolution on nuclear power plants in Poland. The first will be built by Westinghouse using American technology, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced. According to the schedule, construction will start in 2026, and in 2033 the first unit will start operating.

“We have decided to build the first nuclear power plant on the territory of Poland in the place that is best prepared for it. This is the place that, in northern Poland with access to water, with access to energy infrastructure, best suits all the conditions agreed with all the experts,” Mateusz Morawiecki, Poland’s Prime Minister, said.

“We are also open to a second project. Project that is a project of private entities both Polish, a private entrepreneur, an entrepreneur with the participation of the state and a private Korean entrepreneur KHNP. This is a project that will involve the construction of a nuclear power plant in Poland by a Korean company with the participation of Polish companies. That is the second project. At the same time, I also want to signal our readiness for the third project in central Poland, the exact location of which will be chosen in the coming months, and quarters. But we see, as much as possible, space for at least these three large traditional nuclear power projects,” he added.
