The Polish national team, in its last match before the inauguration of the World Championships, faced Argentina, the third team of the last Olympic Games. The White Reds had no problems defeating their rivals in a match that, due to its friendly rank, was played in four sets.
The friendly match against Argentina was the last test for the Polish volleyball players before the World Championships, which will begin on Friday, August 26.
Even though Tuesday’s clash was a sparring match, Nikola Grbić decided not to experiment with the lineup. Marcin Janusz, Bartosz Kurek, Mateusz Bieniek, Jakub Kochanowski, Kamil Semeniuk, Aleksander Sliwka and Paweł Zatorski played in the basic lineup, i.e., candidates to play in the starting lineup also during the upcoming championship.
Nikola Grbić and Marcelo Mendez had already agreed before the start of the meeting that the match would last at least four sets. The beginning of the first set belonged to the Argentinians, but the Poles quickly caught up and so led until the very end. The Polish team came closer with every action to triumph and won the whole meeting 4:0.
