UFC285: Mateusz Gamrot won with Jalin Turner

The fight between Mateusz Gamrot and Jalin Turner at UFC285 was a fresh start and a pleasant suprise after Gamrot’s defeat by Beneil Dariush in October last year. Although the Pole accepted the fight as a second-stringer less than three weeks ago, he proved that he is a top lightweight fighter in the world.

Mateusz Gamrot is a Polish professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Lightweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Gamrot is a former KSW Featherweight Champion and KSW Lightweight Champion. As of December 13, 2022, he is #7 in the UFC lightweight rankings.

    “Gamer” vs. “Tarantula”

Mateusz Gamrot “Gamer” accepted the fight with Jalin Turner “Tarantula” on short notice. Turner was originally scheduled to fight Dan Hooker but he dropped out due to a broken arm.

Despite only having 10 days to prepare, Mateusz Gamrot defeated Jalin Turner via split decision at UFC 285. Jalin Turner turned out to be a worse wrestler than Mateusz Gamrot.

The fight lasted three rounds and was close to a draw. Because of his better arm reach, Turner was looking for as many opportunities to pound his opponent on the feet. Gamrot, on the other hand, knew that his advantage in this fight would be wrestling.
