In a ceremony scheduled for Monday at 4:30 PM in the Column Hall of the Presidential Palace, President Andrzej Duda will swear in Mateusz Morawiecki’s government. The President’s Office Chief, Grażyna Ignaczak-Bandych, explained that the Prime Minister will be sworn in first, followed by the submission of a proposal to appoint the Council of Ministers. President Duda will then sign the appointment decree and confer ministerial appointments.
Morawiecki’s Vision for a Leaner, More Gender-Balanced Cabinet
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, in a recent interview, hinted at a significantly smaller and more gender-diverse government, emphasizing a political-expertise blend. The President accepted the Cabinet’s resignation on November 13, subsequently designating Morawiecki as the new Prime Minister. The 14-day deadline for the President to appoint the Prime Minister and other ministers ends on Monday, November 27.
The Constitution dictates that if government formation attempts fail initially, the initiative shifts to the Sejm. In the recent elections, PiS secured 194 seats, falling short of the 231 required for a majority. Coalition talks ensued, with an agreement signed on November 10 by opposition leaders Donald Tusk, Szymon Hołownia, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and representatives of Nowa Lewica.
