“The current government wants to uncap the electricity prices. We cannot allow them to do that. It will mean another jump in inflation and impoverishment of Polish families,” said former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a meeting in Ciechanów. He noted that it was already confirmed by budget leaks from ministries.
During the meeting with the residents of Ciechanów, Mateusz Morawiecki addressed the issue of energy prices. He also spoke about worrying reports for Poles that have already been coming from the ministries.
The former Prime Minister reminded that the previous government used to cap energy prices every year regardless of external factors, including cost increases by Russia. However, now many indications suggest that Poles are facing horrendous increases because the authority wants to thaw the prices.
He pointed out that this would happen right after the local elections and the European Parliament elections. “And then, as they say, ‘even if gasoline was 10 PLN’, ‘to promise twice is like keeping once’ what does it matter that they promised during the election campaign when now they clearly say,” Morawiecki said.
The former Prime Minister emphasized that leaks from ministries and media reports confirm this. “They want to lead to the uncapped energy prices, which will raise inflation again,” he noted.
