Poland’s Potential to Lead in European Biogas and Biomethane Production

Poland is primed to become a leader in European biogas and biomethane production, with growing support for expanding its biosector.

Poland holds the fifth-largest biomass potential for biogas production in the EU. Despite this, the country’s 388 installations are significantly fewer than Germany’s 10,000. Encouragingly, the recent 6th edition of GREEN GAS POLAND highlighted growing support for unlocking Poland’s biosector.

    Overcoming Barriers

Industry experts acknowledge the challenges facing biogas investments in Poland, including public perception. Leaders emphasized the need to address these misconceptions and push forward the expansion of biogas and biomethane technologies to reduce emissions and boost green energy.

    Biogas for Sustainable Growth

Poland’s strong agricultural sector positions it well to become a leader in biogas and biomethane. By harnessing local biomass resources, biogas facilities can play a key role in the EU’s decarbonization goals and support rural development.

The conference concluded with optimism for the future, as government and industry representatives showed unity in advancing supportive regulations and investments in this promising sector.
