Morawiecki: ”Conservatism Must Balance Tradition and Innovation”

Mateusz Morawiecki calls for conservatism that balances tradition with modernization, focusing on family, community, and technological progress.

During the “Congress of the Young” in Lublin, former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki emphasized the need for conservatism to evolve. He described conservatism as requiring two “wings”: one rooted in identity, tradition, faith, and culture, and another focused on progress, modernization, and innovation. Without balancing both, he argued, conservatism risks marginalization and irrelevance.

Morawiecki highlighted the importance of embracing new technologies like data analysis, which he called “the oil of the 21st century.” He urged conservatives to overcome historical complexes and actively shape the future, blending patriotism with innovation.

Community and Family in the Face of Global Trends
Morawiecki contrasted conservatism with the global trends of alienation and virtual realities. He argued that conservatism offers a sense of belonging through family, friendship, and community. Supporting stable marriages and families, he said, is vital for societal and national development.

Morawiecki concluded by encouraging courage in defending Poland’s identity and values while pursuing bold, forward-looking projects to ensure a strong, modern future.
