The Poznań Ice Festival transformed the Old Market Square into a dazzling showcase of icy artistry. Starting on Friday, the festival featured the small sculpture competition, challenging participants to carve “time, time passes” from a block of ice in just three hours. Saturday brought the thrilling Speed Ice Carving competition, where precision and speed were put to the test.
A Global Ice Competition
The festival gathered 24 sculptors from 12 countries, including the Philippines, Japan, Canada, and Poland. Participants ranged from professional artists to chefs and academics, united by their passion for ice carving. Crowds flocked to witness these frozen masterpieces, making the festival a highlight of Poznań’s Christmas celebrations.
On Sunday, the spotlight turned to the main competition, where 12 international teams had the entire day to craft sculptures on themes of their choosing. By 5 PM, the artists completed their works, leaving audiences in awe of their creativity and skill.
As evening fell, the jury revealed the winner: a stunning samurai sculpture by the team from the Philippines. Their intricate design captivated the audience and sealed their victory, making the 2024 Poznań Ice Festival a memorable celebration of art and winter magic.
