After victories against Germany and Greece, the White-Red team faced the Czech Republic in the third game of the European Volleyball Championships.
Poles were very slow to enter Saturday’s match. At the beginning of the opening part of the match, the Czechs gained an advantage in points – after just a few minutes it was 8:3 for the Czechs. Katarzyna Wenerska played the ball only to the wings, and later she simplified the game, even more, exposing in almost every situation to Malwina Smarzek. So, the opponents had no problem with setting up the block and defense, and they scored very regularly themselves and confidently won the first part.
Michaela Mlejnkova tried to boost her team, but the Poles spread their wings and did not intend to slow down the pace. The third set ended… the referee, not very well disposed of, whistled a double rebound for the Czech playmaker. Regardless of the referee’s form, the White-Reds played their game and took the lead 8:4 at the beginning of the fourth – as it turned out the last – part. Good play of our volleyball players made it impossible for the rivals to fight and make up for the losses, and the Poles were happy with another win.
White-red’s third victory in the third match at the European Championships and lead in group “B”, in which they still have to meet with Spain (Monday at 19:30) and Bulgaria (Wednesday at the same time).
