Orlen’s CEO Daniel Obajtek said that the fuel price situation should stabilize. “Since the global economy is cooling down, the oil demand will also be lower, which will make fuel prices begin to normalize,” he said.
Orlen’s CEO Daniel Obajtek was interviewed by “DGP” about what to expect in terms of fuel prices.
“There are a lot of factors that affect the price of fuel because it’s not just the dollar and barrel prices. OPEC’s further decisions on production are also unknown. Under normal circumstances, the summer peak of the fuel consumption period should be behind us, but we see that it is now being prolonged. It is a result of the markets rebounding after the pandemic,” he said.
“In Poland, everything has been done to make the prices one of the lowest in Europe. If it were not for the actions of the Polish government fighting fuel mafias and optimizations undertaken by Orlen, prices would have exceeded PLN 7 per litre long ago,” Obajtek argued.
He assured that other instruments are being used to reduce fuel prices. “We do what we can, which is to take business actions that are reflected in cost savings. For example, the acquisitions we are making,” Obajtek said.
