    Most Poles want war reparations

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki listened to the report on Polish war losses, prepared by the Parliamentary Team for Reparations. This was announced by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

Moreover, Chancellery recalled that World War II brought huge negative consequences for our country.

“6 million people died, we lost our independence and the possibility of economic development. We are facing these effects until today,” emphasized the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

Poland’s losses after the war are dealt with by the Jan Karski Institute for War Losses, which was recently established by the head of the Polish government. The Institute’s task is to research and describe the effects of World War II for our country and the entire Central and Eastern Europe. In addition, it is to conduct educational and popularizing activities, disseminating the results of the research.

“Poland suffered enormous losses as a result of World War II, not only human losses – the unimaginably large property was plundered from our citizens and our homeland. Free and independent Poland cannot ignore such losses, hence the government’s actions in this area,” emphasizes the Chancellery.

It noted that Poles had a similar opinion, referring to a CBOS study from October 2021, according to which 64 per cent of respondents supported applying for compensation for losses incurred during World War II.
