Registration for the second edition of CuValley Hack 2022 is now open. The event, organized by KGHM Polska Miedź S. A. and KGHM Centrum Analityki sp. z o. o., will take place online in March this year. The authors of the winning projects will be rewarded with a total pool of PLN 120 000.
A hackathon, or programming marathon, is a time-limited event where programming enthusiasts are tasked with solving a specific problem. Their work is based on an extensive analysis of the data provided.
During the upcoming 2nd edition of CuValley Hack (March 11-13, 2022), participants will have 40 hours to create inspiring and implementable solutions related to copper metallurgy. Teams participating in the hackathon will have to focus on optimizing their functioning processes in terms of increasing production efficiency, energy efficiency, or minimizing the occurrence of failures. Tasks include preparing a data model to determine cathode quality and analyzing and improving the energy efficiency of a rocking-rotary furnace. Participants will be able to count on the support of experts who will help to take the right direction in working on the project and will suggest how to approach the topic to make the solution effective and practical.
The first edition of the event, held last year, attracted almost 300 participants, and one of the awarded projects is already at the final stage of implementation at Głogów Copper Smelter.
“The success of the first edition of CuValley Hack, organized as part of the innovative Copper Valley program, reinforced our belief that it’s worth going outside the box when looking for innovative solutions. We are already implementing the first of last year’s award-winning projects. I believe that this year’s edition will result in more innovative solutions which will bring laurels to the participants and specific improvements to us, increasing the effectiveness and quality of work,” comments Marcin Chludziński, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
