In the wake of an unprecedented leak of sensitive data concerning the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), the editor-in-chief of Gazeta Polska and head of TV Republika, Tomasz Sakiewicz, has issued a direct appeal to the Prime Minister. In a post on platform X, he calls for the establishment of an independent commission to examine the scale and sources of the leak and, above all, to determine whether the data ended up in the hands of foreign intelligence services.
Tomasz Sakiewicz published a post on his X profile addressed to the Prime Minister, in which he poses a series of questions regarding state security. The appeal is a direct response to a recent publication by Gazeta Wyborcza, which revealed confidential medical information about Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.
In his post, Sakiewicz asks, “Prime Minister, have you appointed a commission which, independently of the individuals directly responsible for allowing the leaks in the cases of Karol Nawrocki and Sławomir Cenckiewicz, will assess the true scale of the leaks and their sources, as well as the routes by which this information traveled, including whether it ended up in the hands of foreign intelligence services?”
The editor-in-chief of Gazeta Polska suggests that the media storm surrounding the case may be nothing more than a smokescreen for a far more serious operation. “Media publications may merely be a diversion from the real operation. We do not know how many more documents, and of what type, are currently making their way into hostile services,“ Sakiewicz warns.
Tomasz Sakiewicz’s appeal comes a day after Gazeta Wyborcza published an article revealing what medications Sławomir Cenckiewicz was allegedly taking. The information came from his personal security clearance questionnaire. The case has sparked widespread outrage and accusations that the special services are being used for political warfare.
It should be emphasized that Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz is one of the closest associates of President Karol Nawrocki, who assumed office on 6 August 2025.
President Karol Nawrocki himself responded to the publication with a sharp comment. “A new reality, yet the methods are still the same. This time directed not at me, but at my minister,“ he wrote on platform X.
