Poland’s first AI Factory at AGH in Krakow will advance digitization, medicine, and environmental protection. Completion set for 2025.
Poland is set to strengthen its position as a European leader in digitization with the establishment of its first Artificial Intelligence Factory at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. Announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski, this cutting-edge initiative aims to bridge human and machine collaboration, with applications in medicine, environmental protection, and beyond.
The AI Factory, developed within the Academic Computer Center Cyfronet AGH, will significantly enhance computing capabilities. With government funding of nearly PLN 70 million and European Commission support, it will upgrade resources to global top-tier standards. This shift is likened to moving from driving a car to flying a plane in computational power.
Expected benefits include faster drug development, improved disaster response, early cancer detection, and optimized agricultural management. The project underscores Poland’s pursuit of technological sovereignty and modern education tools, essential for the future of computer science. Completion is slated for 2025, marking a major leap in Poland’s AI ambitions.
