Following publications by Gazeta Polska and Niezalezna.pl, there has been growing discussion about the allegedly dangerous connections of the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty. These matters are to be discussed at a meeting of the National Security Council.
“If it is the case that the President cannot learn about such matters through normal channels, then perhaps the National Security Council is a good place to ask about them,”
said yesterday the head of the National Security Bureau, Sławomir Cenckiewicz.
According to findings by journalists from Gazeta Polska, Speaker of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty served for two years on the parliamentary committee for special services, despite not having been vetted by the Internal Security Agency. Doubts have also been raised regarding the relations between Czarzasty and his wife and a Russian citizen dealing in works of art, employed by an auction house linked to Russia’s largest bank, which is controlled by the Kremlin.
Czarzasty’s case is to be discussed during the National Security Council meeting. Sławomir Cenckiewicz spoke about this yesterday in an interview with Radio ZET.
“If it is the case that the President cannot learn about such matters through normal channels, then perhaps the National Security Council is a good place to ask, for example, representatives of the special services, including the coordinating minister, about how the vetting process looked. Or to ask Speaker Czarzasty himself,”
said Cenckiewicz.
“There will be no show and no attack, and we are prepared for any answer,”
assured the head of the National Security Bureau.
“But we would like to have a serious discussion about matters of the state, and that is the President’s intention. The National Security Council is not convened casually, not even once a month, but only when there is something important to discuss, and this is one of the important matters to be addressed,”
Cenckiewicz said, referring to Czarzasty’s contacts described by Gazeta Polska.
“Of course, this meeting has its own hierarchy of topics, and the most important issues are framed in this way: the SAFE program, the SAFE loan, the issue of the Peace Council, and Poland’s potential participation in it. And then the new information revealed by Gazeta Polska,”
he added.
When asked who proposed discussing Czarzasty’s contacts during the Council meeting, Cenckiewicz replied: “This is the President’s idea, which I fully support.”
This is not the end of the alleged dangerous connections of Włodzimierz Czarzasty. Today, Niezalezna.pl revealed that the Speaker of the Sejm has for years sat on the board of a foundation led by a man who openly praises Vladimir Putin and repeats aggressive Kremlin propaganda.
