    Andrzej Bargiel’s Adventurous Pursuit: Conquering Gasherbrum Peaks on Skis

    On July 25, at 2:00 AM local time in Pakistan, the peak assault on Gasherbrum I (8080 m a.s.l.) commenced. Andrzej Bargiel, Janusz Gołąb, and Maciej Sulima reached Camp 2, while Bartek Pawlikowski remained at the base camp. Currently, Andrzej is resting at Camp 2, planning to set off for the summit if weather conditions permit. He aims to conquer the peak in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 26.


    Andrzej Bargiel’s Hic Sunt Leones – GASHERBRUM SKI CHALLENGE began on June 30, 2023. The expedition’s objective is to explore the Gasherbrum region and ascend two eight-thousanders – Gaszerbrum I and Gaszerbrum II – skiing down both peaks without supplemental oxygen.

    Past Triumphs and Future Ambitions

    Earlier, on July 19, Andrzej achieved the first part of his mission by successfully reaching the summit of Gaszerbrum II (8035 m a.s.l.) and skiing down its slopes. His incredible skiing feats have garnered admiration and awe from the mountaineering community.
