Agents of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) entered the headquarters of Śląsk Wrocław Handball. Yesterday, searches were also conducted at the city hall. This is another chapter of the so-called “garbage scandal” in the capital of Lower Silesia.
Searches at Śląsk Wrocław Handball headquarters
Information about the searches was reported on X by journalist Marcin Torz. In his post, he emphasized that Śląsk Wrocław Handball is “a club linked to Wrocław deputy mayor Renata Granowska and the chairwoman of the city council Agnieszka Rybczak.”
Śląsk Wrocław Handball advertised waste management companies on its jerseys at a time when the club’s president was Wojciech Granowski, the husband of Wrocław deputy mayor Renata Granowska. “And in the background there was a billion-PLN tender for the collection of waste from residents,” Torz recalled.
Searches at the city hall and Ekosystem company
Yesterday, searches were also carried out at the Wrocław City Hall and the headquarters of the municipal company Ekosystem.
“Since this morning, on the order of the Katowice branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office, CBA agents have been conducting searches in several locations, including in Wrocław and neighboring counties. Documentation and data storage devices are being secured, among others at Wrocław City Hall and the municipal company Ekosystem,” said Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the minister-coordinator of special services.
He added that the investigation concerns abuse of power and failure to fulfill official duties by officials in connection with the collection and management of municipal waste in Wrocław.
