On Friday, a high-ranking military official said that investigations into an unidentified military object discovered on Thursday near Bydgoszcz, northern Poland, are in progress and the results should be available shortly.
General Tomasz Piotrowski, Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces, has reported that the situation is under control. Piotrowski also revealed that investigators are currently attempting to discover the object’s origin and the circumstances that led to its discovery in the area where its remains were located.
“Right now there is an intensive inquiry on, lots of checking and exchanges between various institutions,” Piotrowski said.
On Thursday, the district military prosecutor’s office in Gdańsk launched an investigation into the discovery of remnants from an unidentified aerial military object found in a forest near the city of Bydgoszcz.
Polish Defence Ministry officials reported on Thursday that there were no threats to local residents in the area.
On Friday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced he had instructed the Defence Minister to oversee the investigation into the incident.
“I am in constant contact with the minister of defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, and have instructed him to supervise the course of the investigation personally, all work-related a final explanation concerning the object found near Bydgoszcz,” Morawiecki said.
“The most important thing for me is that Poland is safe, that nothing happened to anyone, and that this incident should be clarified in every small detail,” he added.
