Attorney Krzysztof Wąsowski, defense lawyer of Robert Bąkiewicz, after the Border Defense Movement (ROG) leader left the prosecutor’s office, stated that he had heard a charge today in the prosecutor’s office “of allegedly insulting an officer – as we have learned, it was supposed to be a verbal insult, exactly with a single word.”
“I think it will be revealed in the prosecutor’s statement. The problem is that Mr. Robert Bąkiewicz never uttered such a word. It was allegedly heard by one of the officers, who assumed that the word was directed by Robert Bąkiewicz. We have not yet seen any evidence. We are certain there are recordings of that word being spoken. If these recordings exist and if there is any other proof beyond the conviction of a single officer, then of course Mr. Bąkiewicz will respond. Since we have not seen any recording that would confirm the alleged insult of the officer, Mr. Bąkiewicz today refused to give explanations and would not comment on something that he cannot verify. He will submit a request that, once he reviews the evidence and sees a recording allegedly showing him insulting anyone, he will of course provide explanations and respond to it,” he explained. He added that “after the charge was presented to Mr. Bąkiewicz, a decision was issued imposing preventive measures, namely police supervision.”
“Mr. Robert must report twice a week to the police station near his place of residence. The second element of this supervision is something completely shocking, because I have never seen anything like this before. Namely: he has been banned from approaching the Polish-German border, specifically the border crossings, within a distance of 1 kilometer,” he reported.
He added that “no preventive measures such as a travel ban have been imposed on Mr. Bąkiewicz, so we are wondering how he is supposed to leave the country to the west if he has such a ban.”
“The third element of this preventive measure is the obligation to inform the police at a specific time about leaving his place of residence. We have the right to file a complaint against this decision within 7 days. The prosecutor, with visible embarrassment, had to perform this technical action. It was clear that these preventive measures and the charge were probably not prepared here,” noted the defense lawyer of the ROG leader.
Bąkiewicz: “We cannot give up”
Robert Bąkiewicz, leader of the Border Defense Movement, stated that in his opinion “the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gorzów Wielkopolski has been raped by political forces.” “In my view, there is no doubt about this. It seems to me that the local prosecutor’s office emphasized that there were no grounds for bringing any charges against me. The reason for the campaign against me is political – the National Prosecutor’s Office (PK) and the Minister of Justice, as well as Mr. Donald Tusk himself. Therefore, I ask the following question: reading these charges and the preventive measures imposed on me – why am I being interrogated and charged in Gorzów Wielkopolski, and not in Berlin? I should have been taken straight to Berlin and there, before the greatest justice of the Federal Republic of Germany, I should give my testimony.”
He stressed that, in his opinion, “it seems completely unbelievable not only to bring charges against me – of which I have no doubt that such a word was never uttered – but also that this has not been recorded in any way, although we will see what the evidence materials show.”
“The fact that they order me to stay one kilometer away from the Polish-German border proves the real purpose of their actions. They want us to remain silent and not defend our own nation and homeland against mass migration. From this place, I declare that in the future I will take all possible steps to ensure that those responsible for these false accusations against me face consequences. The issue of the ban on approaching the Polish-German border fully exposes the political nature of the charges brought against me,” he emphasized.
He also issued an appeal to Poles:
“I call on all of you: we cannot give up. The fear that has spread before Donald Tusk and the entire left-liberal elite of the European Union comes from the fact that we, as Poles, in overwhelming majority, do not want mass migration. Shame on those who today use repressions against me and the Border Defense Movement. Shame on those who bring danger upon the Polish state,” said Bąkiewicz.
