The leader of the Border Defense Movement, Robert Bąkiewicz, announced on social media a planned demonstration in front of the German Embassy in Warsaw. He emphasized that Germany is attempting to evade responsibility for crimes committed against Poles during World War II.
Reparations Remain an Important Issue
Robert Bąkiewicz, leader of the Border Defense Movement, published a post on social media in which he criticized the German authorities’ stance toward Poland regarding reparations for World War II:
“After 80 years, Berlin has given us… a stone. A stone instead of justice! This is a disgrace,” he wrote.
In his statement, Bąkiewicz reminded that Germany cannot escape responsibility for the genocide committed against Poles during the war. He stressed that Poland is still facing brazen historical falsifications by the Federal Republic of Germany concerning accountability for those crimes.
He announced that on September 1, the anniversary of the outbreak of the war, a demonstration will take place in front of the German Embassy in Warsaw. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. at 12/2 Jazdów Street.
In his post, Bąkiewicz also recalled the tragedy suffered by the Polish nation between 1939 and 1945:
- 6 million war victims,
- 200,000 Polish children taken from their parents,
- a ruined Warsaw and hundreds of destroyed towns.
