Behind the scenes of the detention hearing in Ziobro’s case. More motions and breaks

The court is considering further motions by the defense during the detention hearing in the case of Law and Justice (PiS) MP Zbigniew Ziobro. More breaks are being announced, with the latest until 02:45 pm. One of the defense motions has been upheld by the court.

The District Court for Warsaw-Mokotów resumed today its examination of the prosecutor’s request for detention of Law and Justice (PiS) MP Zbigniew Ziobro. This is already the third detention hearing – the previous two ended in adjournment. However, Thursday’s hearing has also been ongoing for several hours, with no end in sight.

The hearing continues. More motions and… breaks

Several breaks have already been announced during Thursday’s detention hearing. Zbigniew Ziobro’s defense team submitted, among other things, a motion to expand the judicial panel to three professional judges – however, it was rejected by the court’s vice president. Later, the defense submitted further motions, which were processed.

During another break, Ziobro’s lawyers did not disclose what the motions concerned. They only told journalists gathered outside the courtroom that the motions “were of a substantive nature.”

Ultimately, a break was announced until 14:45. The court granted a motion allowing the defense to review the transcripts of interviews with many individuals, including, among others, female officials from the Ministry of Justice. In the defense’s assessment, these materials are beneficial to Zbigniew Ziobro.

Let us recall that MP Ziobro is currently in Budapest, where he has been granted political asylum.
