Law and Justice (PiS) MP Mariusz Błaszczak is sounding the alarm on X about problems at the Ministry of National Defence. “A new year, and the Ministry of National Defence faces the same old problems. For many months I have been warning about a dispute between the defence ministry and the Ministry of Finance over how the debt of the Armed Forces Support Fund is to be repaid,” he wrote.
According to the former deputy prime minister, Finance Minister Andrzej Domański has ordered Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz to repay this debt directly from the defence budget. “This is a straight road to insolvency for the defence ministry,” Błaszczak warns.
“We are facing exactly the same dispute in the work on a new fund that the government wants to establish to service loans from the SAFE fund. The head of the Ministry of National Defence does not have the political clout to ensure that the adopted law provides for debt repayment from parts of the budget other than the one allocated to defence,” writes the former head of the Ministry of National Defence.

“What does this mean? Soon the Ministry of National Defence will be repaying the debt of two funds, and as a result the budgetary burdens on the ministry will not even allow for the day-to-day management of the Polish Armed Forces,” warns the Law and Justice (PiS) MP.
Błaszczak also suggests that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz “lacks the political clout” to push through solutions more favorable to the Ministry of National Defence in the dispute with the Ministry of Finance headed by Andrzej Domański.
