Bodnar Faces Up to 8 Years in Prison. Wave of Outrage Over Minister’s Actions: “Resign!” [REACTIONS]

TV Republika has reported that Justice Minister Adam Bodnar failed to disclose ownership of one of his properties in his official asset declaration. The revelation has sparked widespread backlash online. “Resign!”, “This is huge,” and “I wonder if the prosecutor’s office will investigate this concealment,” are just a few of the comments circulating on social media.

Undisclosed Apartment in Warsaw

According to TV Republika, Bodnar omitted one of his Warsaw properties—an apartment on Wąwozowa Street in the Ursynów district measuring 112 square meters—from his asset declaration. The apartment was reportedly purchased in 2005.

Under Polish law on the exercise of a parliamentary mandate, “providing false information or withholding the truth in an asset declaration entails liability under Article 233 §1 of the Penal Code.” That article states: “Anyone who, giving testimony intended to serve as evidence in court or other proceedings governed by law, provides false testimony or conceals the truth, shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of six months to eight years.” This warning is included on official asset declaration forms.

If the rule of law is to be upheld, the justice minister could face a prison sentence of up to 8 years.

“Resign!”

The so-called “property scandal” involving Adam Bodnar has ignited fierce reactions online.

“Resign!” demanded Dariusz Matecki, an MP from the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party.

“This is big,” commented attorney Bartosz Lewandowski.

“It turns out Bodnar owns three apartments but only declared two… I wonder if the prosecutor’s office will look into this concealment,” wrote commentator Krzysztof Kotowski.

More Reactions Below:

“What a coincidence that the justice minister ‘forgot’ about one apartment. So he has three, not two. What do the liberals say now?”

“Adam Bodnar didn’t include one of his apartments in his asset declaration. Unbelievable. #StrongTogether in trouble!”

“Bodnar failed to report a 112-square-meter apartment in Ursynów. He hid the truth. Where did you get that apartment, Mr. Minister? What are you hiding?”
