Bucharest Nine – Will More Countries Join? “We Will Work Toward It”

“At the Bucharest Nine summit in May, we will work toward sending an official invitation to the Scandinavian countries to become part of this format,” said the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, after a meeting with the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan.

On Thursday, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, and First Lady Mirabela Grădinaru paid an official visit to Poland. The Romanian presidential couple was welcomed in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace by President Karol Nawrocki and his wife Marta Nawrocka, after which the two presidents held talks.

What Did the Presidents Discuss?

During the joint press conference, President Karol Nawrocki emphasized that his conversation with the Romanian leader focused primarily on the three key pillars of security connecting Poland and Romania. He noted that the most important of these is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, to which they devoted significant time, including discussions on economic and customs-related issues. The president added that a large part of the conversation also concerned cooperation between Poland and Romania with the United States.

“I am glad that here with the president we are both convinced that the presence of American troops in Poland and Romania, as well as military cooperation and cooperation in the field of security, is in the interest of both Poland and Romania,” Nawrocki said.
