Case Against Bąkiewicz Dropped After Home Search – “A Political Show by Bodnar’s People”

Polish authorities conducted a controversial search of Robert Bąkiewicz’s home in September 2024, allegedly for documents from the 2018 Independence March. The case has now been dropped, sparking accusations of political motives.

Police Raid on Robert Bąkiewicz’s Home

On the morning of September 4, 2024, Polish police entered the home of Robert Bąkiewicz, searching for documents related to the 2018 Independence March. According to journalist Michał Jelonek, the authorities used the pretext of locating specific records from the event.

Bąkiewicz strongly condemned the search, stating that it was politically motivated and aimed at seizing his personal documents, laptops, and phone. Calling the operation “banditry,” he claimed it was an act of political retaliation. He linked the raid to his recent protest in front of the German embassy, where he had raised the issue of war reparations.

Case Dropped – Accusations of Political Showmanship

Despite the high-profile search and the disruption to Bąkiewicz and his family, the case was ultimately dropped. This decision has led to fierce criticism from opposition figures, who argue that the entire operation was a politically driven stunt.

Michał Woś, commenting on X, did not hold back in his criticism:

“The search at Robert Bąkiewicz’s home, the harassment of his family, and… case dismissed. Bandits. From the start, we said this was a political show by Bodnar’s people before the Independence March, trying to find anything they could on people associated with it. Yet another proof that the prosecution is acting on Tusk’s political orders.”

The controversy surrounding the search and the subsequent dismissal of the case highlights the deep political tensions in Poland, with accusations of judicial institutions being used for political purposes.
