Cenckiewicz to Kierwiński: “You don’t know what you’re talking about…” – A Strong Response from the Head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) to Allegations of “Influence”

“I suspected you weren’t familiar with the regulations. The services are managed by the government,” this is how Sławomir Cenckiewicz responded to Marcin Kierwiński, who had accused the Presidential Palace of “destroying intelligence and counterintelligence”. The head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) firmly rejected the accusations made by the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) minister, stressing that the bureau does not oversee the security services and that any suggestions of influence from former leadership teams are entirely unfounded.

Marcin Kierwiński published a post on social media suggesting that the Presidential Palace – through the alleged “Macierewicz influence” – is “undermining the services”, and that the National Security Bureau (BBN) is being filled with people linked to the former team.

“I have no doubt that the campaign against the services conducted by the Presidential Palace is driven by Macierewicz’s influence. The BBN is swelling with his people. And this means the destruction of intelligence and counterintelligence in the face of Russian aggression. We’ve been through this more than once…” he wrote.

The head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) reacted quickly to these claims, unequivocally challenging the substantive value of Kierwiński’s accusations and pointing out that the minister simply does not understand the regulations governing the structure and supervision of the special services.

“I would very much like, Minister, for the BBN to have influence over or co-manage intelligence and counterintelligence. I suspected you weren’t familiar with the regulations. The services are managed by the government,” Cenckiewicz stressed.

This brief clarification clearly reframes the discussion – Cenckiewicz reminds that the competencies are plainly defined in law, and since the National Security Bureau (BBN) does not manage the services, accusing it of “destroying intelligence and counterintelligence” is fundamentally misguided.
