Cezary Jurkiewicz speaks to Telewizja Republika after CBA operation. “I’m heading home!”

“I hope today’s events have clarified many things,” Cezary Jurkiewicz told Telewizja Republika after Tuesday’s operation carried out by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) and the prosecutor’s office. Earlier that morning, both he and Maciej Świrski were detained. Jurkiewicz is now returning home by train from Rzeszów.

On Tuesday morning, officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau, acting on the orders of a prosecutor from the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Rzeszów, detained Maciej Świrski, the former head of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) and former member of the management board of the Polish National Foundation (PFN), as well as Cezary Jurkiewicz, a Warsaw city councillor and former president of the PFN management board.

Jurkiewicz has since been released from custody, formally charged, and placed under non-custodial preventive measures.

Jurkiewicz: I hope today’s events have clarified many things

Telewizja Republika caught up with Cezary Jurkiewicz at the main railway station in Rzeszów.

“What I’m happiest about is that my train leaves at 9:07 p.m. and I’m going home. I don’t see today as anything particularly extraordinary for me, because I’ve worked under much more difficult conditions on various projects. But the fact that I’m going home is what matters most to me,” Jurkiewicz said.

“I hope today’s events have clarified many things. I trust that what we did and have been doing was transparent and straightforward,” he added.

“Rzeszów Główny — I’m heading home!”
