In the face of a rapidly changing geopolitical situation, the issue of further enlargement of the European Union (UE) is gaining particular importance. This process is no longer just a matter of political declaration or meeting specific accession criteria – it is becoming a strategic choice that may determine the future of the entire continent. The panel participants will consider which countries have a real chance of joining the community in the coming years – both in the short- and long-term perspective.
It is also important to discuss the concrete benefits of enlargement, such as strengthening the EU’s position on the international stage, deepening economic cooperation, or increasing regional security. The panelists will also reflect on what internal reforms must take place within the Union itself for the integration process to be effective and lasting. Finally, they will seek answers to the fundamental question: Is the European Union ready today to take another bold step toward deeper integration? What conditions must be met for this enlargement to bring lasting benefits to both new and current members of the community?
The following have announced their participation in the panel: Adam A. Ambroziak, Head of the Department of Integration and European Law, Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), Szymon Szynkowski Vel Sęk, Member of the Sejm RP, Vice-Chairman of the Sejm Committee on European Union Affairs, Adam Lamberd, Director, Austrian Institute of Caucasus Studies, Vsevolod Chentsov, Head, Mission of Ukraine to the European Union, Viktorija Trajkov, Deputy Minister, Ministry of European Integration, North Macedonia, and Jacek Czaputowicz, Professor, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland in 2018-2020, University of Warsaw.
