According to an analysis conducted by an internet user, despite the ongoing electoral silence, two election committees—as well as a political party and a non-governmental organization—are allegedly running advertisements on social media promoting their candidates.
On Saturday, the portal niezalezna.pl reported that one of the campaign teams had likely failed to disable advertisements on social media that promote a candidate for the office of President of the Republic of Poland.
“This is unprecedented! There have been occasional violations of electoral silence in the past, but never by an election committee acting as if nothing were amiss. It is hard to believe such incompetence—or sense of impunity—unless it is a calculated move to justify potential post-election protests, should the outcome not go as planned…”
— commented MP Radosław Fogiel.
The head of one campaign team shared screenshots from the Google Ads panel, claiming that “the advertisements were halted yesterday [i.e., Friday] at 4:00 PM. Google’s ad libraries update with a delay and may contain errors,” adding further that “there is absolutely no question of any violation.”
This narrative was contested by former Minister of Digital Affairs, Janusz Cieszyński, who asserted:
“It is possible to deactivate ads even 19 minutes before the start of electoral silence without any issues.”
It has also come to light that, despite the electoral silence, advertisements are being run on social media not only by another campaign team but also by a political party, a parliamentary caucus, and the organization Akcja Demokracja. This was pointed out by another internet user.
