Emir of Qatar Visits Poland: Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Qatar’s Emir visits Poland to strengthen economic, energy, and security ties in high-level talks with President Andrzej Duda.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, is on an official visit to Poland. His talks with President Andrzej Duda primarily focus on economic issues. After the official welcome ceremony in the Presidential Palace courtyard, the leaders had a private one-on-one meeting. They subsequently signed a bilateral agreement on higher education and scientific cooperation.

    Economic and Energy Cooperation

The main topics of the plenary discussions, led by President Duda and the Emir, include deepening energy cooperation and Qatari investments in Poland. Qatar, one of the largest LNG producers and exporters, is crucial for Poland, especially after Russian gas supplies ceased following the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

    Strengthening Partnerships

“This visit, following my recent visit to Doha, demonstrates the strengthening relations between our countries. Qatar is a leading energy partner for Poland,”

    said President Duda.

In May, at Sheikh Tamim’s invitation, Duda attended the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha.

    Focus on Security

The discussions also addressed security issues, both in the Middle East and in Poland’s region. “We appreciate the support, especially recently, in resolving the Middle East conflict and assisting Polish citizens there. This help is invaluable,”

    emphasized President Duda.
