    Former Polish Football Star Adam Banaś Wanted for Theft Charges

    Adam Banaś, a former Ekstraklasa player with over 100 matches to his name, is now facing serious legal troubles. The ex-defender, known for his time with top Polish clubs including Piast Gliwice, Górnik Zabrze, and Zagłębie Lubin, is being sought by police in Gliwice and the Provincial Police Headquarters in Katowice on theft charges under Article 278 § 1 of Poland’s Penal Code. If convicted, Banaś could face a prison sentence of up to five years.

    The police released Banaś’s photo from June 2024 on their official website, asking for assistance in locating him. Banaś began his professional career in 2000 with Ruch Radzionków, showcasing his promise as an 18-year-old. His Ekstraklasa career saw him rise as a notable figure, ending in 2014 with a goal in his final match. He then played a season in Azerbaijan before retiring from professional football. The former star’s legal battle has shocked the Polish football community.
