With the arrival of November, the Silesian Voivodeship Office in Katowice has once again launched its annual free hotline for homeless individuals. By dialing 987, those in need can receive up-to-date information on available shelter and meal services across the region.
24/7 Support for Winter Months
The hotline will operate continuously throughout the fall and winter months, ensuring assistance is available every day, around the clock. Covering the entirety of Silesia, this service is free of charge and can be accessed from both mobile and landline phones.
Proven Effectiveness
According to the Silesian Office’s Department of Security and Crisis Management, the hotline has proven essential in recent years. During the 2021-22 winter, 377 calls were recorded, while 317 calls came in 2022-23, and 395 in the 2023-24 season. These figures highlight the hotline’s role in providing vital support to Silesia’s homeless population.
The hotline is managed by the Office’s Family and Social Policy Department during regular hours (7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), and by the Crisis Management Center staff during evenings, nights, and weekends, ensuring seamless support across all hours.
