President Calls to Defend Free Media as Thousands Chant “Republika!”

President Andrzej Duda called for the defense of free media. Thousands of people spontaneously responded, chanting: “Republika!”

President Andrzej Duda emphasized that the authorities are trying to dismantle free media through the same corrupt dealings that have been fought against over the past eight years. Speaking at the Expo Hall in Łódź, he urged those gathered to stand up for media freedom. In response, thousands of attendees immediately began chanting “Republika!”

The convention for Karol Nawrocki is currently taking place in Łódź, with President Andrzej Duda as the event’s guest of honor. During his speech, he stressed that freedom of speech in Poland is under threat.

“Have the courage to say it everywhere — to speak simple truths: that we must defend free media, because there are attempts to shut them down, to strip them of their licenses. How? Through corrupt arrangements, the very ones we have fought against for the past eight years,”

he said.

In reaction, the crowd once again erupted, chanting “Republika!”

The President also stated that there must be someone who will defend the freedom of the press. “If no one stands up, it is unclear what will become of Poland,” he emphasized.

“We cannot allow cynicism and wrongdoing to triumph in Poland. Honesty must prevail, and we must do everything in our power to make sure it does. That’s why it’s crucial to ensure that more than 10 million people go out and vote for the candidate supported here today,”

he concluded.
