IMGW issues storm and heat warnings for Poland: stay alert for severe weather and extreme temperatures.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued Level 1 and 2 warnings for storms across Poland and Level 1 and 2 warnings for heat in most regions of the country.
Severe Storm Warnings
IMGW has issued Level 2 storm warnings for Pomorskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Wielkopolskie, Łódzkie, Świętokrzyskie, Lubelskie, Podkarpackie, Małopolskie, Śląskie, Opolskie, and parts of Zachodniopomorskie and Dolnośląskie. These warnings are associated with rainfall between 35 mm and 55 mm and wind gusts up to 100-110 km/h, with a high probability of hail. The warnings are effective depending on the county from 12:00-20:00 or 13:00-23:00, with a 90% chance of storms.
Level 1 storm warnings apply to Lubuskie, and parts of Zachodniopomorskie and Dolnośląskie, with rainfalls from 20 mm to 35 mm and wind gusts up to 80 km/h. These warnings are in effect from 8:00-13:00, with an 85% chance of storms.
Heatwave Warnings
IMGW has also issued Level 2 heat warnings for Lubelskie, Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie, Łódzkie, Opolskie, parts of Mazowieckie, Śląskie, Małopolskie, Wielkopolskie, Dolnośląskie, and some counties in Podlaskie. These warnings remain effective until 18:00, 19:00, or until 20:30 on July 17, depending on the county.
Level 1 heat warnings are in place for Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, parts of Pomorskie, Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, Wielkopolskie, Lubuskie, Śląskie, and Małopolskie, active from 12:00-19:00.
