Over the course of 46 race days at Warsaw’s Służewiec Racecourse, horses covered nearly 5300 km in the 2023 season. The season featured 416 races, with 251 dedicated to Thoroughbreds. Notably, Le Destrier claimed Horse of the Year, triumphing in major Polish races and setting a track record.
Thoroughbred Dominance
Of the 416 races at Służewiec, 251 were dedicated to Thoroughbreds, showcasing the breed’s popularity. The season also featured races for Arabian horses and French trotters, with a total of 719 horses participating, including 38 trotters.
Season’s Champions
Le Destrier, winning the Wielka Warszawska and Nagroda Prezesa Totalizatora Sportowego, was crowned Horse of the Year. Trainer of the Year went to Maciej Janikowski, credited for international successes, notably with Moonu. Swedish jockey Niklas Lovén, known for hurdle racing, secured the title of Rider with Most Achievements.
Awards Galore
Special awards included Oskar Nowak as Young Riders’ Champion, and Anator’s victory in the Nagroda Mosznej recognized as the Public’s Special Mention. The ceremony also honored outstanding breeders, trainers, and owners in various categories.
The 2023 racing season at Służewiec concluded with a spectacular Gala, celebrating the triumphs and talents that defined the year.
