Hospital Scandal. MPs Enter Żurek’s Ministry: “The Ministry Is Not Interested in This Case”

“The whole of Poland can see the Kacprzyk scandal. The whole of Poland sees that doctors are coming forward to report irregularities, yet it turns out that Lady Justice in the Ministry of Justice is both deaf and blind to this scandal. It appears that no action has been taken on the political level,” MP Łukasz Kmita said after conducting a parliamentary inspection at the Ministry of Justice.

During a press conference today, Law and Justice (PiS) MPs Dorota Arciszewska-Mielewczyk and Łukasz Kmita presented what they described as the “Civic Clique” and announced a parliamentary inspection at the Ministry of Justice.

“We fear that this entire scandal—one of the biggest involving what has been happening at South Hospital under Mr. Trzaskowski’s supervision—will simply be swept under the rug,” Arciszewska-Mielewczyk said.

She pointed out that whistleblower physician Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski had already been questioned, while Dawid Kacprzyk and those responsible for managing and supervising the hospital—including Rafał Trzaskowski, who previously boasted that he had “built this hospital himself”—have yet to be interviewed.

“The prosecution is acting sluggishly because they are all part of the same family. In the end, the whistleblower—the doctor who dared to report irregularities in the Emergency Department and the hospital—was dismissed from his job. We want to know what documentation is in the minister’s possession, why Dawid Kacprzyk has not been questioned, where he is now, whether he is travelling around Poland coordinating his version of events with Donald Tusk, and why we have not seen the hospital records secured or Rafał Trzaskowski questioned, despite the fact that he oversees the hospital,” the MP said.

She also argued that Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski is now the target of attacks aimed at undermining his credibility.

“Today, the doctor is the one being attacked. His authority is being diminished, insinuations are being made, and he is effectively being portrayed as a potential criminal. Those who defame a whistleblower may themselves be held legally accountable. We strongly oppose this. It is intimidation, an attempt to discourage others, and a deliberate policy aimed at frightening Poles into ignoring irregularities,” she added.

In her view, the South Hospital scandal is fundamentally a political scandal.

Calls for an Independent Investigation

Łukasz Kmita argued that the Warsaw City Council’s decision to grant Rafał Trzaskowski a vote of approval effectively amounted to a vote of confidence in Dawid Kacprzyk.

“It has become clear that those in power are deaf to reports from whistleblowers. This is not how trust in the state is built. It reflects the authorities’ arrogance, allowing political and medical cliques to operate under the protection of those in power. We will demand that the Minister of Justice disclose the relevant documents and stop creating the illusion that the Ministry of Justice genuinely intends to resolve this matter. The whole of Poland can see that the real objective is to bury the case. State institutions are not functioning properly, they are not acting appropriately, and they are failing to guarantee equal access to justice. Now Civic Coalition is trying to shift all responsibility onto Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski,” the MP said.

He added:

“An independent investigative team must be established to examine this case from beginning to end and explain how this entire network has been operating.”

MPs Announce Further Inspections

Following their inspection at the Ministry of Justice, the MPs stated that ministry officials were unaware of any instructions or directives concerning the South Hospital case.

“The Ministry of Justice is not interested in the matter. It is simply waiting for letters, phone calls, and formal notifications. We will submit additional written questions,” Dorota Arciszewska-Mielewczyk said.

She added that an inspection of the prosecutor’s office would also be necessary to clarify a number of outstanding issues.

Łukasz Kmita concluded:

“The whole of Poland can see the Kacprzyk scandal. The whole of Poland sees doctors coming forward to report irregularities, yet Lady Justice at the Ministry of Justice remains deaf and blind to this scandal. It appears that no political action has been taken in response.”

“This is merely an attempt to deceive the public into believing that everyone in the government is determined to get to the bottom of this scandal,” he added.
