Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has secured his spot in the ATP 500 Halle quarterfinals with a thrilling straight-sets victory over Australia’s James Duckworth, 7-6(3), 6-4.
Hurkacz, the defending champion in Halle, demonstrated his formidable skills in his second match on grass this season. The first set was tightly contested, with both players holding their serves. Hurkacz, showcasing a powerful service game, lost only four points on his serve and won the tie-break convincingly.
The second set saw Hurkacz break Duckworth’s serve early, which proved decisive. Despite Duckworth’s attempt to break back at 4-3, Hurkacz responded with a series of aces, finishing the match with 17 aces in total. His strong serving under pressure was a key factor in securing the victory.
