Hubert Hurkacz has advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open. The Pole won against Denis Shapovalov (ATP. 22) after a five-set battle 3-2.

The rivalry between the number 10 seed Hurkacz and Shapovalov (no. 20) brought a lot of excitement.

For the first two sets, Hurkacz led with a decisive advantage. It was even expected that the match would end early with a relatively easy victory for the Pole. Unfortunately, the third and fourth sets belonged to the Canadian, who showed Hurkacz that he was not going to give up easily.

The fifth set was crucial. The Pole seemed to have regenerated and decided to fight for the advance to the fourth round. After a hard-fought battle, he succeeded by beating the Canadian 6-3.

The Polish tennis player’s next opponent will be the winner of the Sebastian Korda (ATP. 31) – Denis Medvedev (ATP. 8) match.

    Hubert Hurkacz – Denis Shapovalov 3-2 (7-6, 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, 6-3)
