Hurkacz Triumphs Over Shapovalov and the Weather in Epic French Open Clash

Hubert Hurkacz faced not just a formidable opponent but also relentless weather conditions, emerging victorious on both fronts. After an extended 24-hour delay, Hurkacz completed his match against Denis Shapovalov, winning 6-3, 7-6(0), 4-6, 6-1.

When play resumed, Hurkacz broke Shapovalov to lead 3-1 but then lost momentum, dropping four consecutive games as Shapovalov took the third set 6-4. Concerns arose about Hurkacz’s form, but he rebounded strongly in the fourth set, winning five straight games to secure a 6-1 victory. Shapovalov’s impatience and poor decisions played a key role in the outcome.

This win advances Hurkacz to the fourth round, matching his best performance at Roland Garros. He will next face the winner of the Grigor Dimitrov and Zizou Bergs match.

    Hubert Hurkacz – Denis Shapovalov 3-1 (6:3, 7:6, 4:6, 6:1)
