    Swiatek in 2023

Polish tennis sensation, Iga Swiatek, has already secured two tournament victories in 2023. Swiatek started the season with a fourth-round exit in the Australian Open Grand Slam. However, she made a stunning comeback in the Doha 500-ranked tournament, winning the event in superb style. Unfortunately, her winning streak was broken in the 1000-ranked event in Dubai by Barbora Krejcikova in the final. Swiatek continued to play in Indian Wells in March but failed to defend her title due to an injury.

Despite missing a few matches, Swiatek made a spectacular return to the court by winning the Stuttgart tournament, beating Aryna Sabalenka in the final and defending her title. Her winning streak was interrupted two weeks later in the Madrid final by Sabalenka. Swiatek is set to defend her title in Rome before competing in the upcoming Roland Garros Grand Slam tournament.

Swiatek to defend her titles in Rome and then in Paris

Iga Swiatek, the Polish tennis star, is set to defend her title at the Italian Open, a 1000-ranked event on clay. The tournament in Rome is crucial for her, as she is defending her title and 1000 important ranking points. She has been seeded as the highest-ranked player and will begin her campaign from the second round, much like her recent opponent Aryna Sabalenka, who is close to her in the rankings.

The tournament draw was announced on Sunday, 7 May, and Swiatek’s first match is scheduled for Thursday, at the earliest. This tournament is a significant warm-up for the upcoming Grand Slam, Roland Garros, which will take place at the end of May and early June. Swiatek has already won twice in Paris, including an impressive victory last year, and hopes to make a strong showing once again.

Iga Świątek will face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova or Sara Errani in the R2 of WTA 1000 in Rome.
