Polish Women’s Handball Team Advances to Europe’s Top 12!

In a thrilling final group-stage match of the 2024 European Women’s Handball Championship, the Polish national team secured a crucial 26-23 victory against Spain, ensuring their place among Europe’s top 12 teams. The match, played on Monday evening, saw Poland triumph in Group C, joining France in advancing to the tournament’s main round.

Poland displayed a determined and dynamic performance, bouncing back from an early deficit (1-3) to take control of the game. Stellar defense and contributions from key players like Aleksandra Rosiak, Monika Kobylińska, and Magdalena Balsam fueled their success. By halftime, Poland held a narrow 14-12 lead.

In the second half, Poland extended their dominance, with Rosiak particularly impressive in both attack and defense. Despite a late resurgence by Spain, which reduced Poland’s six-goal lead to just two, the Polish team held their ground to clinch the win.

The victory means Poland will travel to Debrecen, Hungary, for the main round, where they will face top teams from Groups A and B in matches scheduled for December 5, 6, 8, and 10. The final lineup for the next stage will be confirmed on December 3 after the conclusion of other group games.
