“In the Belarusian style.” Ziobro reacts strongly to court ruling. “This is not a verdict”

“Giertych is howling with joy because Judge Błażej Domagała ruled, in a Belarusian style, that the truth does not matter,” declared Zbigniew Ziobro. The opposition politician was found liable over critical remarks concerning the activities of Roman Giertych and the Polnord affair.

Ziobro found liable over comments about Giertych

Roman Giertych announced on social media that he had won a lawsuit against Zbigniew Ziobro concerning statements made by the former justice minister about the Polnord case. According to the Civic Coalition (KO) MP, the Regional Court in Warsaw ordered Ziobro to issue a public apology for seven days on TV Republika and for seven days on the station’s YouTube channel, as well as to pay PLN 30,000.

The dispute concerned remarks Ziobro made during a session of the parliamentary inquiry committee on Pegasus in September last year.

“Giertych and his associates were pursuing interests that were contrary to the law. Authorities concluded that Giertych was a thief who had siphoned money out of the company,” Ziobro said at the time.

Giertych subsequently announced that he would take legal action. After the court’s ruling was announced, he addressed Ziobro directly.

“Zbyszek, come back to Poland and comply with the judgment!” Giertych wrote.

“This is not a verdict”

Ziobro responded by claiming that “this is not a verdict—it is a protective umbrella spread over a member of the current ruling establishment’s inner circle, a close associate of Tusk.”

“Giertych—a demoralized scandal-ridden figure, a participant in an organized criminal group, and a professional hater all in one—has been granted a protective umbrella by the court,” Ziobro said.

The opposition MP added that “if anyone wants to know how Polnord was allegedly plundered, journalist Kraskowski should tell the story. He was arrested today and has long been persecuted for seeking to uncover the truth about Giertych.”

Ziobro also encouraged the public to watch Kraskowski’s material concerning the Polnord affair.
