– First, there’s Braun questioning the Holocaust and the crimes committed in Auschwitz, and now members of the December 13 coalition are behind the scandalous exhibition “Our Boys”, which seems to subtly blur the responsibility for the tragedy of World War II—and even shift the blame onto Poles. This is an attack on the Polish national interest – wrote Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the Law and Justice (PiS) party.
In his statement, the PiS chairman referenced the controversial “Our Boys” exhibition in Gdańsk, as well as remarks by Grzegorz Braun, who denied the existence of gas chambers in the German concentration camp at Auschwitz.
“Is this a coordinated action? First, Braun questioning the Holocaust and the atrocities at Auschwitz, and now the December 13 coalition producing a scandalous exhibition, ‘Our Boys’, which seems designed to subtly distort the responsibility for the tragedy of World War II, even going so far as to suggest it lies with the Polish people,” the politician wrote.
He argued that, in his view, this represents “an attack on Poland’s national interest and an attempt to undermine well-established historical facts.”
“It is outrageous that this kind of conduct is being legitimized by people currently in power in Poland. That says a lot…” he concluded.
