Kaczyński sums up Tusk’s two-year rule: “This is a tragedy for Poland”

“This is a tragedy for Poland, one that cannot be covered up in the long run. It will end someday, but these were two years of ruining the Polish state, destroying the rule of law,” said Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of Law and Justice. This is how the politician summed up the two-year rule of the 13 December coalition.

Two years of Tusk’s government. “They talk, they don’t act”

On Saturday it will be two years since the swearing-in of the government of the 13 December coalition. Law and Justice (PiS) held a press conference summarizing this period under the slogan “They talk, they don’t act”.

“You can see the slogan ‘They talk, they don’t act’, because that is exactly how it is. They made countless promises in many areas. There were 100 specifics, guarantees, priorities. In reality, there is nothing. They said that nothing given would be taken away. They raised VAT on food, abolished the energy shields and other protections for Poles as well. As for everything that made up the development policy, it has in large part been completely halted or has suffered enormous delays” declared Jarosław Kaczyński.

The politician stressed that “the entire development concept, which was very ambitious, has essentially been dismantled, and these shutdowns or cancellations are very easy to associate with German expectations”. He listed ports, the Oder River and nuclear power plants as examples.

“We also have a crisis when it comes to rearming and expanding the army. Something is happening, but it is incomparably smaller in scale than what we had planned. At the same time, we have a huge crisis in public finances and the most painful and tangible manifestation of this crisis, namely the crisis in the healthcare system. It affects sick people, including those most seriously ill. We are dealing with a situation in which the government claims that Poles are earning more and more. As far as the statistical figures go, we do not want to question them. But today’s press states that we earn more and can afford less, and that is a fact” said the leader of the largest opposition party.

Kaczyński also pointed to the situation in foreign policy.

“We have a disaster in foreign policy. There is no ability to influence what is happening today around Ukraine, and that is extremely important. We have Mercosur. From the very beginning of this government there has been agreement to the migration pact. The fact that they obtained the possibility to request, every year, permission not to be allocated the quota is undoubtedly related to the 2027 elections. It is somewhat humiliating. We must constantly ask that the fact that we are on the front line and have taken in a million Ukrainians be considered” he said.

In his view, “we are dealing with a situation they are trying to cover up.”

“We undertook many different projects and investments. Some of them, especially the local ones, are being completed. This is a powerful blow to the interests of a huge number of Poles. What we started is now being finished. They are claiming it for themselves, even Tusk personally, as their success. The West Station was planned, financed and largely carried out by us. This is an example of the deception they use. This is a tragedy for Poland, one that cannot be covered up in the long run. It will end someday, but these were two years of ruining the Polish state, destroying the rule of law” he recalled.

The PiS leader stressed that “these two years are being presented as years of progress. This progress is best represented by a single person, symbolically, but perceptibly to a large part of the public.”

“It is a fact that the second most important person in the state is Mr. Czarzasty, a communist activist. This is a return to a time that seemed definitively over. Others are returning behind him, such as Mr. Siwiec. We did not expect to see these faces again. Symbolically, they show the direction: it is a direction backwards” he concluded.

During the conference, MP Mariusz Błaszczak also took the floor.

“‘They talk, they don’t act’ is the proper slogan that should be on the banners of those in power. In their propaganda they say exactly the opposite, but in the election campaign they promised the moon. Has anyone seen 5.19 per liter of petrol? Meanwhile, it turns out that next year they are raising the fuel surcharge, so fuel prices will be even higher than they are now. Poland is governed by people who are incapable of governing. These are people who have led to the collapse of public finances, and the record-high budget deficit is proof of that. They have bankrupted the National Health Fund (NFZ). They have caused a breakdown in all areas. They have squandered the achievements of the PiS government regarding the strengthening of the Polish Army. The mechanisms for expanding troop numbers and acquiring modern weaponry are not being used as they should be” he stated.

He also underlined that the 13 December coalition “is saving on security, and this poses a real threat to our country’s safety. The police have a record number of vacancies: 13.5 thousand.”

“The special services are targeting opposition politicians, which is why saboteurs are first allowed into Poland and, after committing acts of sabotage, they leave for Belarus. This is what we are dealing with in the Poland governed by D. Tusk. Since government propaganda distorts reality, we have decided that PiS will launch an information campaign and these billboards will set off across Poland. We will inform the public about what the government of the 13 December coalition is really like” he added.
