“I accepted Dawid Kacprzyk’s resignation from membership in Civic Coalition today,” Civic Coalition Secretary-General Marcin Kierwiński announced on social media. A heated debate erupted around Kacprzyk after it emerged that the 28-year-old doctor had declared PLN 1.6 million in income for 2025. Kierwiński’s post triggered a wave of comments.
The case gained publicity after Portal Zero reported that the councillor was said to have worked a total of 3,976 hours at Warsaw’s Southern Hospital in 2025, which, according to hospital data, averages 331 hours per month. The doctor’s duty rosters show that some shifts allegedly lasted continuously for three or even four days.
Journalists also described cases in which, according to hospital records, Kacprzyk was supposed to be on duty while at the same time appearing publicly, including on TVP3 Warsaw, at a meeting with politicians, and during a district council session.
Kacprzyk’s case has been referred to the prosecutor’s office. A notification of a suspected crime was filed by Law and Justice MP Paweł Jabłoński.
“Public funds must be spent honestly, and a doctor has the right to remuneration, but only for the time when he is actually available to patients. If he took anything dishonestly, he should return it and face punishment. I hope no protective umbrella will be opened over D. Kacprzyk. Fortunately, unlike, for example, Tomasz Grodzki, the councillor does not have immunity,”
he said on Monday.
That same evening, Civic Coalition Secretary-General Marcin Kierwiński posted a brief statement announcing Kacprzyk’s resignation from the party’s structures.
Kierwiński’s post sparked an avalanche of comments. Opposition politicians argue that resigning from the party by no means resolves the matter. Some commentators, meanwhile, are surprised that, in connection with the scandal, Kacprzyk was not expelled from the party “with a bang.”
“Evacuation instead of accountability. Instead of expelling in disgrace a man who took millions out of the public health system, they allowed him to save face. The Neumann doctrine, right to the end,”
MP Anita Czerwińska wrote.
“But did he give the money back?”
asked MP Waldemar Buda.
“So, let me get this straight: after earning PLN 1.6 million at a municipal company, Dawid simply resigned from the party (not from his posts in municipal companies). No disciplinary consequences, no charges. He just cancelled his party membership,”
